ARUSHA DECLARATION MUSEUM

- Arusha declaration museum is the museum located at Kaloleni area, close to Uhuru Tower. This building was used as a social welfare hall for Kaloleni community in Arusha in January 1967 the building hosted the historical meeting from which Tanzania political and economic police of socialism and self- reliance was drawn. On February 1977 the building was converted into a small political museum. - The museum’s permanent exhibition depicts pre-colonial and colonial history struggle for independence the formulation of the policy of self-reliance and the development of Tanzania after Arusha Declaration. - This museum enables the public to understand a history of the political economy of Tanzania it is an important teaching aid for history, civics, general studies, and political science subjects, it also highlights on how the past social and economic development contributed to creation of current situation in Tanzania. The exhibition and education programs seek to raise public awareness of past social/ economic challenges and experiences, as the foundation for maintaining a peaceful society under the changing economic and democratic environment. - The museum offers a lot of services including hall for seminars, and workshops, grounds for exhibition, heritage management consultancy, research partnership and tourist guiding services come experience, explore, get explanations in details and interpretations which will erase hundreds of questions you had been asking yourself about Tanzania political and economic stability, history and pre-historical facts etc. - It’s a point where you will find different documents describing on the manifesto of socialist ideology “UJAMAA” in 5/02/1967. It is dedicated primarily to Tanzania in the 20thC, with some interesting displays on the colonial period and particular focus on the post-independence Nyerere era. It also contains a few descent ethnographic displays.
